Alex* came into Westhaven’s care towards the end of 2020. With complex behavioural issues and past traumas, Alex required intensive personal care and support from our team and had never attended a traditional educational setting. Unable to live with other children and a fear of sleeping by himself in his bedroom, we knew his quality of life needed immediate planning and supports.

Fast forward to today, Alex now attends school 5 days a week. He has conveyed to support workers an optimism and focus on developing relationships and life skills. Alex now lives with another child with disability, and has overcome his difficulties sleeping in his bedroom. These are milestones our team are extremely proud of and are a testament to the life-changing impact, personalised care and support Westhaven provides.
